3M™ Nomad™ Terra Matting — Loop
Coarse open-construction matting for the outermost zone. Scrapes heavy grit and mud off footwear before it reaches the building. Specify this where footfall arrives directly from outdoors.
Around 80% of the dirt inside a building walks in through the entrance. A correctly sized 3M Nomad matting zone scrapes it, holds it and hides it — protecting your flooring, cutting daily cleaning cost and keeping the lobby dry underfoot.
Different entrance zones do different jobs. Most buildings need two or three matting types working in sequence, not one mat at the door.

Coarse open-construction matting for the outermost zone. Scrapes heavy grit and mud off footwear before it reaches the building. Specify this where footfall arrives directly from outdoors.

Absorbent textile construction for the second zone. Takes up moisture that the scraper mat leaves behind — essential in monsoon conditions and air-conditioned lobbies where wet feet meet polished stone.

Carpet-faced matting for interior transition zones and lift lobbies. Finer texture, retains fine dust, and presents a finished appearance in front-of-house areas.

Heavy-duty vinyl loop construction for very high traffic — airports, malls, hospital entrances and industrial gatehouses. Traps and holds a large volume of soil between cleaning cycles.

Tile-format matting that can be laid to any entrance shape and replaced tile by tile. Useful for wide entrances and where a damaged section would otherwise mean replacing a whole mat.

Your logo or wayfinding message woven into the entrance mat. Performs as matting while doing brand work — common in hotel porte-cochères and corporate receptions.

Aluminium-profile matting set into a recessed well so the surface sits flush with the finished floor. The specification-grade option for premium lobbies and where a trip edge is unacceptable.

A complete restore-protect-maintain process for porous stone floors — Trizact diamond restoration, Scotchgard protector and a maintenance regime that holds the shine instead of chasing it.
Matting is rarely budgeted properly because the cost of not having it is spread across three different line items.
3M's product responsibility letter confirms that when used to create a permanent entryway system, Nomad scraper matting contributes to the EQ credit — Enhanced Indoor Air Quality Strategies (Entryway Systems) under LEED v4 BD+C, ID+C and O+M. Relevant for IT parks, corporate campuses and hotels pursuing certification.

Download the document →Most underperforming matting installations fail for one of three reasons: the zone is too short, the wrong construction was used for the conditions, or nobody planned how it would be cleaned. These are the questions we work through on a site visit.
Where we are most often asked to supply and install across Maharashtra, Goa and the rest of India.

Most 3M resellers ship material and leave. We survey the site, prepare the surface, install it properly and document what was done — because that is where the customer's risk actually sits.

As a working rule, plan for enough matting that a person takes several full steps on it before reaching the finished floor — commonly quoted as around 4 to 6 metres of total matting run for a busy commercial entrance, split across scraper and absorbent zones. Shorter runs still help but performance drops sharply. We measure the entrance and size it properly during the survey rather than working from a rule of thumb.
Scraper matting has a coarse, open construction that mechanically removes grit and mud from the sole of the shoe. Absorbent textile matting takes up the moisture left behind. They do different jobs and most entrances need both, in that order — scraper first, absorbent second.
In premium lobbies, yes. It removes the trip edge, sits flush with the finished floor and looks considerably better than a loose mat. But it requires a recessed well formed in the floor slab, so it needs to be decided at design stage. Retrofitting a well into an existing finished floor is possible but is a civil job and should be budgeted as one.
Yes. Logo mats are made to your artwork with colour matching, and are common in hotel and corporate receptions. They perform as matting while doing brand work. Lead time is longer than standard matting, so allow for it in the project programme.
Regular vacuuming is the main requirement, with periodic deep cleaning depending on traffic and exposure. Matting holds soil until it is removed — once saturated it stops working and begins releasing dirt back onto the floor, which is why the cleaning cycle matters as much as the product. Service life varies widely with traffic and maintenance; we set expectations honestly during the survey for your specific entrance.
Yes. We supply matting across India with GST invoicing, and undertake installation directly across Maharashtra and Goa, with project teams for sites elsewhere.
That is usually enough for us to tell you what is wrong with the current setup and what it would cost to fix. A measured quotation follows the site visit.
